Trinidad clinch T20 warm-up

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC-Trinidad and Tobago edged Queen’s Park Cricket Club by three wickets in a weekend practice match ahead of next month’s Caribbean Twenty20 tournament.

The defending champions struggled to 100 for seven off 19.3 overs chasing QPCC’s 99 for eight off 20 overs at Queen’s Park Oval.

Their innings were built on a 43 run partnership in the first six overs between William Perkins’ 29 off 27 balls and Lendl Simmons 18 off eighteen balls.
Skipper Denesh Ramdin was run out off the first ball in the 14th over leaving T&T in a bit of trouble.

But Rayad Emrit steadied the innings with 17 off 13 balls and Yannick Ottley then brought home the win with an unbeaten ten off 15 balls.

Queens Park Cricket Club also got off to a solid start as Marlon Barclay, 21 off ten balls, and Justin Guillen, 29 off 28 balls, put on 35 for the first wicket.
But after the partnership ended a steady procession of wickets followed and GPCC never recovered to post a three figure total.

The two sides were scheduled to meet in a second practice match at the same venue.
