Industry biker dies after found lying on road

The police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Ian Chaves, 43 years, of Crown Dam, Industry, ECD, who was found lying on the roadway at Pattensen/Turkeyen Public Road, ECD, with motor cycle CG 1245 next to him, at about 1205h.

Twenty seven persons, including children, lost their homes in a fire that destroyed at least eight shacks occupied in the Rosemary Lane, Georgetown settlement known as ‘Tiger Bay’ on Tuesday night, and President Donald Ramotar yesterday visited the area to offer support to the victims.

Miner shot at ‘Bruk Up’ Landing

Police say that at about 1615h on Tuesday, miner Robert Grant, 37 years, of Soesdyke, EBD, was involved in an argument over gold with another man at ‘Bruk Up’ Landing, Yarakita, during which he was shot to his legs.
