Gunman gets away with $1.1M from Woodlands Hospital

At about 0900h today, police say that Accounts Clerk attached to the Woodlands Hospital, Sattie Persaud, 47 years, was conveying a bag with $1.1M to the Hospital’s Accounts Office when she was held up by a man armed with a firearm who took away the cash and her cell phone and escaped.

Persons who attended the opening were treated to samples of some of the meats and pastries that are currently available at the establishment

Brazil crush Spain to win Confederations Cup

RIO DE JANEIRO, (Reuters) – Brazil humbled world and European Champions Spain with a crushing 3-0 win in the Confederations Cup final  yesterday, ending their opponents’ three-year record run of 29 unbeaten competitive matches Two goals from Fred, one either side of a stunning left-foot shot from Neymar, gave next year’s World Cup hosts their fifth straight win in the competition as they clinched the trophy for a third time in a row.

Rosberg wins race of exploding tyres

SILVERSTONE, England (Reuters) – Germany’s Nico Rosberg won the British Grand Prix for Mercedes yesterday after a spate of exploding tyres almost caused the race to be stopped and threw the sport into crisis.

Dear Editor, I wish to respond to some poisonous attacks on my character that were published in the Guyana Chronicle of 20th April, (‘Parker’s reputation is not one of credible leadership material’) written by a phantom Mary Charlie; one of 24th January (‘Parker’s track record will be interesting to the people of Rupununi’), written by Peter Persaud, the Leader of the United Force; and one of 30th January (‘Carl Parker, an APNU activist masquerading as someone of importance’), also by Peter Persaud.
