No layaway plan for liquor fine, convict hears

A man who stole two bottles of crème liquor from Bounty Supermarket was yesterday fined $10,000 with an alternative of two months’ imprisonment when he appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Damian James accepted that on July 6 at Bounty Supermarket, Water Street; Georgetown, he stole two bottles of crème liquor valued $1,298.

When the court’s ruling was handed down to James, he asked the court if he could be given sometime to pay the fine.

Magistrate McGusty however cautioned the defendant that layaway plans and hire purchase arrangements would not apply to the fine he has to pay.
