Pedestrian dies on Parika Public Road

The police this afternoon said that investigations are being conducted into a fatal accident that occurred at about 0615h today on the Parika Public Road, East Bank Essequibo, which resulted in the death of pedestrian, Omar Hussain, 69 years, of no fixed place of abode.

Miners warned about illegal operations before fatal cave-in

The four Brazilian miners who were killed when a pit caved in at Arau Backdam, Eteringbang have been confirmed as “illegal” and Natural Resources Minister Robert Persaud yesterday said the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) had warned about illegal operations in the area just three weeks before the tragedy.
