The Staghorn fern

Platycerium bifurcatum commonly called Staghorn fern originates in the tropical areas of Australia, Asia and Africa, but has adapted well to Guyana. This is an easy-to-grow fern with spectacular fronds usually divided at the ends into antler like lobes that resemble deer horns or antlers. They are popular and the greyish-green fronds are showy.

This fern grows well on a piece of tree bark or cork and thrives on exposure to the air. Attach a piece of chain on the bark of a tree so you can hang the fern in a semi-shaded area or under a shade tree.
