Forty law officers failed polygraph tests last year

Minister of Home Affairs Clement Rohee said that for 2012, 40 out of 57 law enforcement officers failed polygraph tests.

He was speaking at a forum yesterday where he announced plans for the future of the security sector in Guyana.

“As regards polygraphing of law enforcement officers, this year 2012, 57 ranks were polygraphed for the first time. Of the 57, 40 failed the test.

In early January 2013, 62 ranks are to be re-examined,” Rohee said.
He said that the results of the 2012 tests were submitted to the Defence Board for consideration, and that directives were given on the course of action to be taken.
