South Ruimveldt accident victim unaware husband died

Forty-five-year-old Sharon Fraser may still be unaware that her husband died as a result of the very accident which made her a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

Relatives say that Sharon, who up to press time last evening was being treated in the hospital’s High Dependency Unit (HDU), had not been told that her husband had died subsequent to being taken to the hospital. Her four-year-old son was said to be in a stable condition, despite sustaining a fractured shoulder.

Sharon, her husband Christopher and their son were travelling west along Aubrey Barker Road when a stray animal entered the path of his motorcycle. It is said that Christopher swerved away from the animal to avoid hitting it and ended up slamming into a car which was parked on the side of the road.

All three were rushed to the GPH for treatment. However Christopher died while receiving treatment.

Relatives say they had planned to visit the woman at the hospital to break the news, but changed their minds after they viewed her condition. They say they hope nothing is said to Sharon until the family determines she is fit enough to be told.

The family says that a date is still to be set for Christopher’s post-mortem examination.
