Night Shelter man collapses and dies

A resident of the East La Penitence Night Shelter collapsed and died in the compound on Saturday.

Marlon Haynes, a longtime resident of the facility was reportedly running in the compound when he fell in the vicinity of the administrative building.

Eyewitnesses say that the man began vomiting after he fell. He died subsequently.

It is unclear if the fall on its own led to the man’s death.

Haynes is said to have only had one lung, having lost the other.

“He was a very sick man,” said one of the other residents of the shelter.

Haynes had only returned to the shelter about ten days ago, having left some time before for unknown reasons.
