Pooran, 70, who lived alone, was found on the floor of a kitchen that was a separate building from her house. Her body bore bruises and her hands were tied together with cloth and a piece of canvas rope was tied over her mouth, police had said.

Meanwhile, four persons are now said to be in custody in connection with Pooran’s death. Among them, Stabroek News has learnt, is one of the persons held by police after the death of the 61-year-old security guard Jagdat ‘Ronald’ Ramcharran, of Bloomfield, Corentyne, who was found dead on January 7, at the Iskcon Sri Sri Radha Gokula Chandra Mandir at Block 6 Williamsburg, where he had been on dusty.

Ramcharran was found on the porch of the mandir with the hands and feet bound and a cloth tied tightly around the neck. This newspaper was told that there may be a connection between the two cases, as it is believed the two victims were bound in the exact way.
