Seven questioned, released in sex worker murder probe

No further suspects have been held in relation to the murder of Cross Street resident, Wesley Holder, but seven people were questioned and released while the investigation is still ongoing, according to a senior police official.

It was previously reported that two men were held by the police in connection with the murder and were released on an unknown amount of bail.

This information came just two days after the body of the 19-year-old sex worker was discovered on an open lawn behind the Carnegie School of Home Economics.

It was also reported that an associate of Holder claimed that three men were following him the night before the alleged murder along King Street.

Asked about this the police source said, “If someone is seen following another person, does it mean that they could be linked to a murder; an investigation can only determine such allegations and as such the police still have the investigation ongoing.”

Meanwhile, a former sex worker has said that since the discovery of Holder’s body on January 11, there has been a decline in the number of sex workers near King Street in the vicinity of the cathedral.
