Sod turned for new Honda dealership HQ

The sod was turned on Monday for the new local Honda headquarters along Charlotte Street.
At the sod turning ceremony, which was attended by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, Honda franchise holder John Permaul announced that he intends to improve on the service and range of vehicles offered by the company.

According to the Government Information Agency (GINA), an artist’s impression of the new Honda headquarters, to be located at 186-187 Charlotte Street, Georgetown, was unveiled and Permaul said it will feature a state-of-the-art showroom and a modern, technologically equipped service center.  Permaul acquired the franchise from the Mendonca family in July 2011 and he said that the response from customers since that time motivated his further investment.

He also launched a Honda Big Tent Promotion, which offers customers 5% discounts and chances to win a generator and hampers, at the sod turning.

The multi-million dollar facility is expected to be completed by October of this year, GINA said.Prime Minister Hinds, GINA said, noted that the Honda Company, which started in 1937 and has since become the one of the largest companies in the world, should be an example to others. “If we want a better life, we have to become better at the work we do,” he said.
He congratulated Permaul for his foresight to invest in Honda.

Hinds also recalled that in 1966, he had owned a Honda Cub 90 moped, which had served him well while he was a work study student. Also attending Monday’s event were Yasutaka Uda, Director of Business Planning, and Pablo Aizprua, Analyst Motor Division, Overseas Operation, from Honda South America in Brazil.
