Guyanese charged with murder in T&T

(Trinidad Express) A Guyanese national appeared in the Siparia Magistrates Court yesterday charged with the murder of mother of three, Stella Rampersad.

Ganesh Thackoor, 25, was taken before Senior Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor.

Thackoor, a labourer, was unrepresented and said nothing during his court appearance.

Thackoor allegedly murdered Rampersad on Carnival Friday at Penal. Thackoor was charged by Acting Sgt Starr Jacob.

Rampersad, of Moolchan Trace, Penal Rock Road, Penal worked in the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP). Police officers were initially told she fell and hit her head but an autopsy found that she was strangled.

Connor adjourned the case to March 18.

Sgt Dridgenath Sookraj appeared for the State in the court matter.
