Marshall, who is represented by defence counsel Hookumchand, is on trial for the murder of Mark Caesar, called ‘Lil Mark,’ in 2010. Caesar died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he suffered several gunshot wounds about the body in the drive-by attack.

Jeffers is an eyewitness in the case and he stated that on the day of the incident he was standing at Broad and Adelaide streets when he saw his brother, now deceased, drive pass him then drive back up the street. He then parked his vehicle and stood at the corner of Broad and Adelaide streets.

Jeffers told the court that his brother was on one side of the street while he was on the opposite side. While he was there, he said, he saw a car turn into Broad Street and then into Adelaide Street. Two men then exited the back seat of the car with guns in their hands, and walked towards Caesar firing shots, which hit him, causing him to fall backwards.

Jeffers identified the two men who exited the car as Marshall and a “skinny rasta man,” to the court. After shooting Caesar the two men got back into the car and escaped, he added. The man also told the court that he was in shock at what he saw, so he could not run to his brother’s assistance immediately.

Meanwhile, the mother of the deceased told the court that her son had visited her shortly before he was shot and that after he left she heard shots being fired. The woman stated that someone told her that her son was shot and when she went to the scene, she saw her son’s body.

Semple, Williams and Jackson were police witnesses whose evidence was based on their role in the investigation. Semple told the court that he witnessed the post-mortem examination of the deceased, while Williams said that he visited the scene and collected the warheads and spent shells that were left behind by the shooters.

The trial will continue today when a visit to where the shooting took place will be done by the court and members of the jury after which the trial is expected to continue as normal in the courtroom. The prosecution is also expected to present three more witnesses before closing its case.
