Mason denies punching nine-year-old neighbour

A mason, who allegedly punched his nine-year-old neighbour in the head when the child’s mother sent him to fetch water, was placed on $25,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Leron Daly at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Orson Mc Curdy, 30, is that on February 12, at West La Penitence, he unlawfully assaulted the child.

Mc Curdy, who resides at Lot 12 West La Penitence, pleaded not guilty when the assault charge was read to him.

The prosecution explained that on the day in question, the child’s mother sent him to fill a bucket with water when Mc Curdy saw him and punched him in his head.

The child’s father made a report to the police.
The prosecution had no objection to bail, which was granted, and the case continues on March 14.
