St. Lucia university announces scholarships in medicine

St. Helen University (SHU), School of Medicine, based in Vieux Fort, St. Lucia, has announced that it is offering full scholarships for the class of May 2013, and the class of Sept 2013.

These scholarships are available to all applicants and will be awarded based on a combination of academic and non-academic criteria.

A release from the university quoted SHU President, Oma Sewhdat, as saying, “We are very pleased with the progress we are making in the program and with the level of interest we have been seeing from potential students from all over the globe.”

Sewhdat said “Our students in the class of January 2013 are progressing very well, and have been very happy with the Plastinated Specimens, our teaching model and the e-resources integrated into the program. According to the students, the Anatomy and Histology slides, videos and related materials have been very valuable.”

He said that all lectures are recorded, packaged with presentation slides and notes; and catalogued for easy search and access by students anytime, anywhere, and on various devices, including laptops and smart phones.

Sewhdat noted that this technology underpinning has been invaluable for students and will continue to be an important element in the overall learning experience at SHU.

Prospective students can visit the university’s website www.shu.com.lc to learn more about it and apply or contact SHU at info@shu.com.lc for more information, the statement added.
