Pedestrian regains consciousness after accident

Seventy-four-year-old Sydney Kingston has regained consciousness after an accident on Tuesday while another pedestrian, Kurtis George, 30, remains unconscious in the Georgetown Public Hospital.

An eyewitness related that Kingston was about to cross the road on the pedestrian crossing in the vicinity of the East La Penitence police station, when the blue minibus which was allegedly speeding, struck him down. Kingston ended up 10 ft from the point of impact.

The driver of the minibus, who is currently in police custody, rushed the elderly man to the Georgetown Public Hospital on Tuesday.

A hospital official confirmed that Kingston suffered four broken ribs, a fractured left arm and minor head injuries.

A relative who only identified herself as ‘Annie’ recalled that at about 3:00pm yesterday, she received a message from a man who told her that her uncle had been involved in an accident.

Annie said that Kingston who lived with her, was heading home from his place of employment as a security guard of the Brans Security Service.

Meanwhile, Kurtis George still remains unconscious in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) of the hospital.

It was reported that about 4:35pm on Tuesday, at Houston Public road, George was struck down by a car which was allegedly speeding at the time of the accident.
