Kitty man on abusive language charge

A man was yesterday released on $30,000 bail after he denied verbally abusing another man.

It is alleged that on March 2, at Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, Jagdesh Narine, 45, made use of abusive language to Melroy Jeffers.

Narine, of Lot 120 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty,denied the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

No further details about the events that led to the charge were provided to the court.
Narine’s lawyer did, however, explain that her client had been fully cooperating with the police.

She added that he is not a flight risk and noted that he had been released on self bail by police.

She also stated that he had neither previous nor pending matters before the court.
Magistrate Latchman subsequently granted Narine bail in the sum of $30,000 and adjourned the case until March 11.
