Three years for drug possession

A man was yesterday sentenced to three years in jail for possession of cocaine and marijuana.

Roy Morgan pleaded guilty to two charges of possession of narcotics when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

He admitted that on March 3, at North West District, he had in his possession half a gramme of cocaine and 1 ½ grammes of cannabis.

Morgan was seen in the area with a bag by a police patrol and he was stopped and a search was conducted, according to Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman. He stated that the drugs were discovered in Morgan’s bag, leading to him being arrested and charged.
