UK group donates legal texts to UG

The Office of the Pro-Chancellor on Friday received a large quantity of legal texts from the Guyana Law Association in the UK. Brian Horne who handed over the books to Pro-Chancellor Dr Prem Misir on behalf of the association said it was working to provide as much assistance as possible to the legal system in Guyana.

Horne, explaining how the donation came about, said there had been a meeting several years ago with then chancellor, Justice Desiree Bernard who indicated the severe need for legal materials and journals.

Over 1,000 books were donated by the association to the Pro-chancellor’s office.
Over the years, the association has made donations worth over £2 million to the Director of the Public Prosecutions’ Chambers and to the AG’s chambers.
