Yarrow Dam man accused of assaulting wife remanded

A man was yesterday remanded to prison on charges that he abused his wife, when he was arraigned before Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Michael Amore, 34, is that on March 16, at Yarrow Dam, Ruimveldt, he unlawfully assaulted Alisha Persaud.
Amore pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him.

No facts about what transpired on the said day were related in court.

Police Corporal Renetta Bentham objected to bail on the grounds that Amore and Persaud reside in the same home and there is a likelihood that if he is bailed he would assault her again.

Persaud asked the magistrate to warn Amore about his behaviour.
Amore was remanded to prison and ordered to appear in court on April 15.
