Man who discharged pistol granted bail

A D’Urban Street resident was released on $60,000 bail after he was charged with discharging a loaded firearm, when he made an appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
It is alleged that on January 17, at Robb Street, Ossie Edward,s 38, discharged a pistol within 100 yards of the public’s way.

Edwards pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell.

Edwards’ lawyer Glen Hanoman in an application to secure his client’s pre-trial liberty informed the court that his client posed no risk of flight since he resides at157 D’Urban Street, Lodge.
He said that Edwards operated a welding shop at D’Urban Backlands.

Hanoman added that Edwards had been released on $50,000 station bail and requested to report to the Alberttown police station. As directed, he had always reported.
Magistrate Lovell subsequently granted him bail in the sum of $60,000.

His matter will be called again on May 8.
