Sod turned for expanded Doobay Medical Centre

The Doobay Medical Centre yesterday turned the sod for the expansion of its Medical Centre at 9 Public Road, Annandale, E.C.D.

CEO of Doobay Medical Centre,  Dr Budhendranauth Doobay said that they are expanding because they see the need for good health care to their Guyanese patients, especially dialysis patients.

He also stressed that cutting edge medicine should be available here.  Ultimately, he said that they would like to have a cancer detection clinic.

The expansion of the centre, he said, will see them being able to provide a full portfolio of excellent dialysis care.

Also present at the sod turning were the Board of Directors, members of the medical profession and President Donald Ramotar.

The not-for-profit organisation was opened September, 2011 and serves to give hemodialysis to patients through cost recovery of about $15,000.

However, many persons, from the opening to present, have been receiving their treatment free of cost since the centre has a “no rejection of the sick” policy.
