No. 69 man dies after being pinned under bus

A man died yesterday after he was pinned underneath a bus following a collision on the No. 69 Village Public Road, East Berbice.
Nandkumar Puran, 43, also known as “Renny” or “Nose,” of No. 69 Village, was rushed to the Skeldon Hospital after being removed from under the vehicle and he later died en route to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was being transferred for treatment.

up a tent for a wake to be held for his niece, who had died earlier in the day. He and his relatives were travelling in a canter truck when they were hit by the bus, which was journeying from Skeldon.

Radika Assirbad said based on eyewitness accounts, after the bus collided with the canter, Puran, who was her husband, was thrown out. He was later found pinned underneath the minibus.

She said that Puran suffered abrasions to the left side of his body and what may have been a broken neck.
Meanwhile, the other passengers in the canter are currently patients at the Skeldon Hospital. They are all said to be listed in a stable condition. Passengers in the minibus were treated and discharged for minor injuries.
The driver of the minibus is in police custody.
