Georgetown Chamber elects new council

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has announced its newly elected Council for 2013/2014 following elections at its 123rd AGM.

In a press release on Friday the Chamber said there are only 21 seats on the Council of the Chamber but there had been a total of 30 nominations. As such, voting papers and a voting register along with a locked ballot box were prepared by the Office of the Chamber to allow members to vote on the nominees at the March 26 meeting.

A meeting was then convened on Friday at its office where three appointed scrutineers opened the locked ballot box and counted the votes after which the names of those elected were announced.

The elected members are Shanti Persaud of Silvie’s General Store; Doris Lewis of The Gift Centre; Bonny Singh of The Hardware Depot; John Lewis of John Lewis Styles; Clinton Urling of German’s Restaurant; Coleen Patterson of GraceKennedy Remittances Services; Abdool Kadir of The Guyana Oil Company; Jean Francois Gerin of Amazon Caribbean Guyana Limited; Navin Prashad of MP Insurance Brokers and Consultants Limited; Komal Ramnauth of Kojac Marketing Agency; Lance Hinds of The BrainStreet Group; Rajeshwar Ramrattan of  RRT Enterprises; Nicholas Boyer of National Hardware; Vishnu Doerga of Doerga Business Enterprises; Molly Hassan of Unicomer Guyana Inc; Patricia Bacchus of Caribbean Container Inc; Gerald Gouveia of Roraima Airways; Eon Grant of Republic Bank (Guyana) Limited; Christopher Ram of Ram & McRae; Lloyd Austin of Austin’s Bookstore and Padmawattie Prashad of ANSA McAl Trading Limited.

The council will now meet to elect a new executive.
