Two bodies found in Berbice River after boat with four goes missing

Police this afternoon confirmed that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two persons who were found floating in the Berbice River and the disappearance of two more.

In a release the names of the dead were given as Rudolph Sheriff, 49 years, of Smythfield, New Amsterdam and Shaquille Anthony Plass, 14 years, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam.

According to the release the body of Rudolph Sheriff was recovered in the Berbice River in the vicinity of Mara at about 0950h yesterday  while the body of Shaquille Anthony Plass was recovered in the vicinity of Cherry Tree, Berbice River, at about 1500 hours today.

Investigations so far have revealed that on April 04  the two deceased along with Shondell Anthony Plass, 49 years, of Angoy’s Avenue and Bate Bender, 43 years, of Morgenstond, Berbice River, had left in a boat from the Canje Creek for Morgenstond.  They had not been seen since.

No trace has so far been seen of the boat or the other two men as the search continues, the release said.
