Two soldiers to be charged with armed robbery

The Guyana Defence Force says it today handed over Lieutenant Madainey Humphrey and Lance Corporal Felix Frank to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) as they are to be charged with armed robbery.

A release from the GDF said that the two, who were implicated in an alleged robbery attempt at the Julian Ross Landing in January this year, are to be charged with robbery under arms.

“Prior to this action the GDF had charged Lieutenant Humphrey for breaching the Force’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and commenced court martial proceedings against him. The court martial has been adjourned to facilitate his handover to the police.

“Lance Corporal Frank was also charged by the GDF for breaches to its SOPs. He was tried by Appropriate Superior Authority Orders in accordance with the Force’s regulations.

“They were escorted to the GPF by members of the GDF Military Police”, the GDF said.
