Residents this morning beat an alleged thief to death before tying his lifeless body to a lamp post .
The dead man’s name has been given as Nigel Fordyce of Plum Park Sophia.
Based on reports the man has broken into a house in A field Sophia and was caught in the process. He was reportedly beaten to death there before his body was transported to B Field.
After tying the body to the post wood was piled on it.
The body was first spotted tied there around 2 am.
Persons who knew Fordyce said that he was a known thief who usually does odd jobs in the Sophia area.
