Chamber welcomes EU expansion of coastal engineer contract

The Georgetown Chamber has welcomed the announcement by the European Union that it intends to expand the mission and assignment of a coastal engineering design expert to assess and make recommendations to the government regarding the overtopping of the East Coast sea defences.

In a press release, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) said it supports the EU’s expanding of the assignment to Consultancy with Engineering, Environmental Science and Economics as it relates to the overtopping of the sea defences along the Rupert Craig Highway.

The GCCI expects that the recommendations offered to the Ministry of Public Works, together with government evaluations “would be implemented swiftly in order to diminish or avoid the staggering consequences” that have been recurring over the years, particularly at the end of April this year.
