Ali to be speaker at Invest Guyana forum in Florida

Acting Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce Irfaan Ali is expected to outline investment and trade opportunities in the Guyana economy which have experienced consistent growth at the Caribbean Trade Center’s (CTC) Invest Guyana forum being held today in Florida, USA.

Ali, who also holds the portfolio of Minister of Housing and Water, is the featured speaker at the event, which is one in the Invest Series being hosted by the CTC in Florida this year, a press release from the Caribbean Trade Center said.

The forum is being held in partnership with the Consulate of Guyana in Miami and will focus on Guyana’s trade and investment opportunities.

Several private businesses such as Seafreight Agencies, Laparkan Shipping and Caribbean Airlines are sponsoring the event. More than 150 business executives have already registered to participate in the seminar, the press release said.

“Guyana welcomes foreign investment in our economy and over the years has developed an investor friendly climate through appropriate legislation, investor concessions and our participation in a number of free trade agreements including the Caribbean Basin Initiative (CBI) with the United States and similar arrangements with Canada, our Caricom sister nations, Latin America and further afield,” Honorary Consul Ramzan Roshanali said. He also referred to the “range of quality products in Guyana available for export,” noting that the country welcomes the opportunity to work with the CTC at the forum.

According to the press release, the CTC works vigorously to develop business relations between Florida and the Caribbean.
