Security guard charged with batteries theft

A security guard accused of stealing batteries was yesterday released on $50,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to a simple larceny charge.

Winston Haynes, 43, of Lot 7 ‘B’ Field, South Sophia asked Magistrate Fabayo Azore to give him some guidance and counseling when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday, saying it was the first time he was charged.

According to the allegations against him, between Saturday May 18 and Sunday May 19, 2013 at Water Street, Haynes stole 13 batteries, valued $22,000, which was the property of Muneshwer’s Limited.

Haynes pleaded with Magistrate Azore, telling the court that he is a security guard at Muneshwer’s and that he was sorry for what he had done.  He begged the magistrate for an early trial and reasonable bail.

Magistrate Azore told him that the bail was sufficient enough and fixed the return date for the case as June 7.
