Man suspected of killing father in North West

A man is suspected of stabbing his father to death during a dispute at their home in the North West District, Region One, early Wednesday morning.

Police have identified the dead man as Gilbert Adams, 66, of Barakawu, which is located in the Moruca sub-region. The suspect, who has not been identified, fled after the attack and has not yet been arrested.

In a press release, the police said that the force was investigating the murder of the farmer, whose body was found at his residence at about 8am on Wednesday, with marks of violence. While the police did not say how Adams’ died, Stabroek News was told that the man sustained several stab wounds. He may have also been beaten.

According to information out of the area, the suspect, identified as ‘Denny,’ left the house with a rope after allegedly committing the murder. There has been no sighting of the man, said to be in his mid-20s since then.

No one knows what transpired in the home between the two.

Adams’s wife, who was present at the time of the incident, is reportedly too distraught to recount the events.
