Man pushed pregnant wife off bed

-court hears

A man was yesterday accused of choking his pregnant common-law wife and pushing her off their bed.

Magistrate Judy Latchman yesterday placed mason Andre Robertson on $10,000 bail and placed him on bond to keep the peace pending the determination of the case.

Robertson, 38, of Lot 4669 Rasville, Roxanne Burnham Gardens, denied that on June 26, at their home, he unlawfully assaulted Denise Fredericks.

Robertson, unrepresented but eager to speak, told the magistrate that he and Fredericks had “a conflict.”

“But the police say I kick she up. So I asked them where is the medical to show that? She is pregnant. So I don’t see how I could kick her up. We just had a heavy argument,” the man said.

But the court heard from Prosecutor Renetta Bentham that the Robertson choked his wife. Fredericks, who was present, said, “He chucked me and pushed me off the bed. He never kicked me.”

After the prosecutor had no objection to bail, it was set at $10, 000.

The defendant was bonded to keep the peace pending the outcome of the matter.
