Mahaicony man injured after firing gun at function

A man sustained injuries to his face after he discharged a loaded firearm at a function at Esau and Jacob, Mahaicony Creek yesterday.

Police said in a release that Mahendra Persaud, 29, of Esau and Jacob, was found in a yard with injuries to his face after he discharged a loaded firearm at a function.

About 00:40hrs police responded to a report of the discharging of a loaded firearm and persons reported that Persaud had an argument with another man during the function. He then left and returned with a firearm which he used to discharge a shot the release stated.

The firearm was taken away from Persaud by several persons during which he received the injuries to his face. The 12-gauge shotgun and an empty casing were also handed over to the police. Persaud was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital for treatment the release stated.
