‘Bolo’ on trial for pensioner’s murder

Shawn Smith, called “Bolo,” who is charged with the murder of a pensioner, is currently on trial before Justice James Bovell-Drakes and a jury in the High Court.

Smith is on trial for the murder of Hector Fitzroy Marshall. His trial was adjourned until Thursday because one of the jurors on the panel is sick. State prosecutors Natasha Backer and Dhanika Singh have presented one witness in the case so far.

Smith, who is represented by attorney Peter Hugh, is accused of killing Marshall between January 18 and 19, 2009. Marshall was found dead in his South Ruimveldt home.
