Man charged with wounding son in row over eggs

A 68-year-old man who allegedly stabbed and wounded his teenage son on July 24 over two eggs has been charged with unlawful wounding.

When Stabroek News contacted an official of the Police Public Relations Department, it was confirmed that Andy Simon appeared before the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court on July 26, charged with unlawful wounding and has been remanded to prison until August 29.

Meanwhile, his 15-year-old son, a student at the Unity Secondary School has been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.

According to reports, the father and son had a dispute over eggs on July 24 around 1.30 pm at their Mahaica home. The teen was subsequently stabbed to the right side of his abdomen beneath his rib cage with a knife. He was subsequently taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital and received surgery on the said night.
