Joshua Baveghems who allegedly beat his teenaged girlfriend with a spade before chopping her to death yesterday made his first court appearance on a charge of murder.
Baveghems, age 18 years, of Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara is accused of murdering Angela McAllister last Thursday.
The man appeared in the Providence Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Leron Daley. He was remanded to prison until October 8. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
Reports are that Baveghems launched his attack shortly after the Cummings Lodge Secondary School teenager arrived at his home. He had reportedly accused her of being unfaithful.
The incident occurred around 1420 hours.
