Aranka death appears to have been a drowning – police

The police today said that cognisant of an article that appeared in the Stabroek News yesterday under the caption `Miner stabbed to death at Aranka’, and which dealt with the death of Keith Wallerson, the force wished to explain that based on investigations conducted so far, the circumstances surrounding Wallerson’s death appear to be different.

At about 0800h. on Saturday August 17, 2013, the police at Aranka received a report that earlier that day Wallerson, 22 yrs, of Golden Grove, WCB, was crossing the Cuyuni River in  a boat, when the vessel capsized and he was feared drowned.

A search party that included police ranks subsequently found the body of  Wallerson in the Cuyuni River at about 1300h. on Saturday.

The body bore no visible marks of violence and is at the Lyken Funeral Palour awaiting a PME.
