Teen accused of cellphone theft

Two teenagers were yesterday charged with robbing a man of his cellular phone.

Police alleged that on August 16, at Houston, the duo of Odel Roberts, 17, of 124 ‘C’ Sophia, Georgetown and Roy Cassaou, 17, of 254 Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, robbed Slater Saul of a cellular phone, valued $80,000.

They both pleaded not guilty, when the charge was read to them by Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Police Prosecutor Ramsahoye Rambajue objected to bail on the grounds that the offence is prevalent and warned that once granted bail the accused will not return to court to face the charges.

Bail was, however, set at $75,000 each on the conditions that each accused lodge his passport at the Brickdam Police Station and reports to the station every Friday at 4pm.
