Man charged with murder of chainsaw operator

A Berbice man was yesterday charged with the murder       of chainsaw operator Chandradat Hussain who was found hanging in a logging camp at Kurduni, Berbice River last Friday.

Police said in a press release yesterday that Charles Goodluck, 64 years, of Betsy Ground,

East Canje, Berbice appeared in the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Clive Nurse.

He returns to court on October 20.

Hussain of Goed Bananen Land, East Canje, Berbice, was found hanging in the logging camp.

At the time, he and another man were the only persons at the location.

However, a post-mortem examination done subsequently ruled out suicide as a cause of death and said that he died as a result of ligature strangulation.

Stabroek News was told that Hussain sustained several injuries about his body, including a stab wound and a wound to his head.

Goodluck was charged after a file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecu-tions for advice.
