Restaurateur verbally abused rum shop owner

A restaurateur was charged yesterday with verbally abusing the owner of a neighbouring liquor shop.

Marvin Hicks, 35, of Lot 29 Back Street, McDoom, allegedly used abusive language to Holly Monderson, thereby breaching the peace. He pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

Attorney Paul Fung-a-Fat, who represented Hicks, said his client operates the Lady ‘D’ Restaurant at Lot 10 North Road and Monderson operates a liquor shop next door.

Prosecutor Seon Blackman did not object to bail, which Magistrate Faith McGusty set at $10,000.

The magistrate fixed the next hearing in the case for September 4.
