Patrol boats valued $156M to be purchased – Luncheon

Cabinet has given the green light for the purchase of patrol boats to the value of $156M US$762,000).

This was disclosed at today’s post-Cabinet press briefing by Dr Roger Luncheon at the Office of the President. The need for patrol boats to monitor Guyana’s maritime zone has been noted for many years.

A release from the Government Information Agency today said  that there were three other contracts for the military which were cleared. Arms for the GDF saw a $100M contract cleared. There was also a contract for $61.4M worth of ammunition for the GDF and $19.4M for military apparel.
