Corentyne businessman found dead after robbery

At about 1030h today,  police say that the body of businessman Abdul Majid, 79 years, of No. 70 Village, Corentyne, was found in his store with his feet tied. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Skeldon Hospital.

A sum of cash and a quantity of jewellery is reported missing.

Investigations are in progress. It is the latest killing in a spate that has put the police under pressure. Last week, an elderly Corentyne miller, Lallapersaud Jaggerdeo was fatally shot during a robbery at his Lot 79 No. 0 Village home.
