At about 1830h. last evening, police say that Meenawattie Puranauth, 45 years, of Hampshire, Corentyne, attempted to cross the main road and was struck down by a motor car.
She succumbed while receiving medical treatment at the Port Mourant Hospital.
The driver of the motor vehicle is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
