Bus conductor accused of stealing woman’s band

A minibus conductor was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with stealing a woman’s gold band.

It was alleged at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court that on September 26, at Georgetown, Randy Joseph, of Lot 24 Company Road, Buxton, stole a gold band valued $200,000 from the person of Elizabeth Clinton.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry subsequently inquired whether he had any pending or previous matters in court and Joseph informed her that he was previously sentenced to one year imprisonment for simple larceny.

Bail was subsequently denied and the case was adjourned until October 25 for statements.
