Order of Nyahbinghi hosting family day month-end

Members of the Theocracy Reign Ivine Order of Nyahbinghi are hosting the Guyana Rastafari Family Day at the Akwaaba Centre, Thomas Lands this month-end.

The Rastafarian Day activities aim to provide an opportunity for Rastafarian families to meet and celebrate their triumphs in promoting peace and security in today’s society though the Ivine Order.

The programme, set for Saturday October 26 from 8am, will see Rastafarians showcasing their works of literature, agriculture, art and craft, the group said in a press release. Praises will be held at 7am, followed by the airing of a number of documentaries.

A roster of activities has been planned including a grand cultural presentation, a five-a-side football competition, softball cricket and athletics.  Food and drinks will also be on sale. A small fee of $200 for adults and $100 for children will be charged at the gates.

According to the press release, funds realised from the staging of this event will go towards staging activities to mark the 83 rd anniversary of the Coronation of Him Emperor Haile Selassie 1 First on November 2 at the Tabernacle of Theocracy Reign Ivine Order of Nyahbinghi situated at Wisroc on the Mabura Road.
