North West man succumbs after being hit during row

The police are investigating the death of Chris Allicock, 30, of Aruka River Mouth, North West District, who succumbed in hospital on Sunday after being struck by a brick during an altercation.

Allicock and Rawle Khan, 39, of Mabaruma Settlement, were involved in an altercation, the police said yesterday.

Khan, according to police, picked up a brick and pelted Allicock in his lower back. Allicock was subsequently taken to the Mabaruma Hospital after experiencing pains in his back. He later died.

A post-mortem examination performed on Thursday by Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh determined that Allicock died as a result of a ruptured spleen caused by a hard object.

Khan has since been arrested and is assisting the police in their investigation, police said.
