Over 35 benefit from training in extractive industry

Over 35 prospectors were beneficiaries of a two-day course at the introductory level on the extractive industries, conducted by the Guyana Mining School and Training Centre in partnership with the Guyana Gold and Diamond Miners Associa-tion (GGDMA).

According to a press release from the GGDMA, the training offered included GPS navigation, compass navigation, map scale interpretation, mineralisation map interpretation and topographic map interpretation.

The course was offered free of charge with subsidies from the GGDMA.

The release said that the course instructor was Administrator of the Guyana Mining School and Training Centre John Applewhite-Hercules. It noted that the mining school fell under the purview of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment. The training was conducted at the Head Office of the GGDMA, North Road, Bourda, George-town and certificates were awarded to the participants by the Mining School and Training Centre, the GGDMA said.
