Neglected drainage undermining Region Three sea defence works

The trench that separates residents from the Uitvlugt seawall is heavily overgrown with vegetation and riddled with garbage, resulting in an inefficient drainage system when overtopping of the seawall occurs. Residents say they have consistently complained to the RDC.

West Coast Demerara residents are satisfied with the sea defence rehabilitation works but say that they are still battling with drains clogged with garbage and overgrown vegetation, which they fear could result in flooding.
