Taxi driver hospitalised after attack

A taxi driver, who was severely beaten in an attack and left on Dennis Street, Sophia, was yesterday rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is currently nursing wounds.

Jerry Waller, 35, of Lot 50 Pere Street, Kitty, was discovered early yesterday morning at the corner of the road after being attacked by another man.

According a source at the hospital, Waller is nursing a fractured skull and a broken foot. The source said he was unable to speak but his condition was stable.

“I saw when they bring him in… but I didn’t know it was him until I went and check,” his brother, Wendell Waller, told Stabroek News yesterday.

Wendell, a policeman, was on duty at the hospital when his brother was brought into the compound. He said that he immediately contacted Jerry’s wife and told her that he was involved in a fight.
